SOLO Swiss Multiple Bell Furnaces Line for the hand tool industry

SOLO Swiss, a specialist of atmosphere furnaces, start up an automatic heat treatment line (Profitherm 300) for the company Felco in Switzerland.

This SOLO Swiss machine, which was designed to treat blades and shears parts, includes two austenitizing, carburizing and carbonitriding bell furnaces, two quenching salt tank, a tempering furnace under N2 atmosphere, a washing machine, a salt recovery system, a storage rack with 20 loading/unloading ramps, a 5-axis robot, an AXRON Swiss Technology process control and supervision (www.axron.com). The  useful loading dimensions are about 500 mm diameter, 700 mm height for a surface of 0.19 m², a volume of 0.155 m³ and a maximum weight of a load about 300 kg.

This line has many applications, including:

-     The option of tempering in the salt tank after quenching.

-     The use of two salt tanks, which allows the customer to have different quenching temperatures.

-     A load management system with remote supervision (for online maintenance).

-     Precise metallurgical results (no deformation, homogeneity and reproducibility of treatment).

-     The cooling water is enclosed in a closed circuit and the salt recovery system allows a reduction of the environmental impact.

-     A washing machine equipped with salt level sensors (salinity) to optimize the consumption of electricity and cooling water.
